Magoros is the most famous Egarian world other than those centered in the Egarian Domain within Winterscale's Realm. It lies forgotten within the Trailing edges of the Koronus Expanse flanked by the warpstorm known as the God-Emperor's Scourge. Situated so close to the phenomenon, Magoros has a reputation of capriciously siezing unexpecting vessels which are never to be seen again. As a result, the world is rarely visited and largely forgotten by the Rogue Traders and other human elements of the Koronus Expanse.

It did become, unknown to the Imperium at large, the final resting place of the Tyrant-Class Cruiser, the Righteous Path. This fact was discovered by Randolf Balthazar while seeking the Balthazar Fleet commanded by Rogue Trader Captain Balthazar which had been devoured by the God-Emperor's Scourge. The fate of both Balthazar flotillas remains unknown, but an astropathic mnemolith with enough information to find the system was entrusted to Antonius Balthazar who remained on Port Wander in the event of the return of Rogue Trader Captain Balathazart. The Righteous Path and the mnemolith were largely forgotten when Randolf Balthazar also disappeared until Adrian Calvinus returned with Randolf's light cruiser and the key to the mnemolith.

The unified Calvinus and Balthazar fleets departed to discover and explore the Magoros System after fighting off the Rogue Trader Hadarak Fel. Once they arrived on Magoros, they were able to locate the Star Mirror on Magoros Prime, recover the Righteous Path, and begin explorations of the dead worlds.

The Flickering Eye
A rotting solar carcass, the Magoros Star is in the eon-long process of bleeding its life out into the void. Once a powerful, bright  star  that  nurtured  the  worlds  of  Magoros,  time  has robbed its grandeur and reduced it to a stuttering pulsar. Its weak light only barely reaches out toward the Shard Halo and from such a distance it is discernible only by its erratic flickers. These flickers and their deadly radiation have spelled the doom of most of the system’s worlds, leaving little morethan dust and death in its wake.

The  star  will  flicker  once  every  102  minutes  for approximately 58 seconds, sending out a wave of radiation that sweeps across the system and its worlds. This pulse is powerful enough to blind sensors momentarily and to send stuttering ripples through void shields. Humans exposed to the pulse without the protection of a vessel or an atmosphere risk  being  fried  alive.

Magoros Prime, as its name suggests, is the major world in the Magoros system as it is the only one to host the infamous hive city mazes of Egarian crystal. In all ways, these vast maze structures are identical in coloration, construction, and mind-bending complexity as those in the more famous Egarian Domain. It hosts three of these megacities with one being relatively small in comparison and a single as large as those found on Egaria Alpha. The most curious of feature of these mazes is the presence of the Star Mirror in largest maze.

Situated almost dead center in the maze, the massive crystalline tower rises a hundred meters or more into the sky and radiates out a massive ionic storm which spells the death of any flyers venturing too near it. Drawing power from still functional networks on Magoros Secundus, the Star Mirror remains the solely functional piece of Egarian tech on the forgotten world.

Inside, those present feel as though they stand amid a sea of reflected light which grants the issue of walking upon nothing in an infinite chamber. In the air high above the heads of those who enter are trillions of swirling images. To gaze upon them and decipher the contents is to be granted a chance to view the entire history of the system starting with the Star Mirror creation. In attempting this, explorers invite insanity born from the torment of gazing upon that built by xenos only for their own eyes.

Georgraphic evidence points toward the world once possessing oceans now long ago dried and dead. The world appears externally as a lifeless husk. Whatever fate befell the Egarians, this world seems to have suffered all the same. The pulsar's intense radiation has purged the surface of life, but some subterranean organisms have remained, and these have become sustanence for an unexpected invasive population of Ambulls. Likewise the Orks, always resistant to harshness war and stars alike, have come to dwell on the world in a debased, degenerate form.

Shard Halo

Scattered  across  billions  of  kilometres  of  space,  the  Shard Halo  is  Magoros  system’s  glittering  crown. Literally millions upon millions of asteroids and broken chunks of rock slowly orbit the outer system. Encased in ice and potentially filled with forgotten, ancient secrets such as the Righteous Path recovered by the Calvinus Dynasty. Visions recovered from the Star Mirror reveal that at one time, the Shard Halo was a super-massive water world covered in layers of ice as it floated on the outer edges of the system. Prior to the death of the system's star, however, a rogue planet careened into it, and by random, capricious chance, both worlds were utterly blasted into fragments.
